A Vancity-sponsored production unearthing Vancouver's queer history.
We teamed with Vancity Credit Union and former collaborator Glenn Tkach to produce a Vancity-sponsored video delving into how economics played a significant role in the evolution of Vancouver's queer community.
For Vancity, this video was part of a larger plan to use branded content as a way to tap into demographics outside of traditional paid advertising using short-form educational content that resonated with their intended audience.
With Glenn handling historic research, our production team went to work on pre-production planning by scoping out various locations within the city to shoot on-location.
Production took place over three days, while post-production took roughly four weeks, including editing, animation, sound design, and colour grading & correction.
Distribution over various social media channels was strategically timed with Vancouver Pride over August Long Weekend.
This feature performed extremely well for a channel's inaugural video, garnering nearly 200,000 views on Instagram and YouTube in its first week of release. Additionally, it potted The Pink Hat 2,000 new subscribers on YouTube to kickstart to Glenn's creator journey, and provided Vancity with massive reach as it endeavoured to advertise the Vancouver's queer community during Pride Weekend.
This video was produced in collaboration with Host and Queer Historian Glenn Tkach.
